Let's Pray

Col. 4:2-5 (ESV)
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. [3] At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— [4] that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.
[5] Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the best use of the time.

Some great advice is found in these verses.
1. Let's pray-really.
2. Be careful and on alert-Satan is tricky.
3. Be thankful.
4. Pray for others-me, too please.
5. Pray for God's Word to get out.
6. Pray for clear sermons.
7. Live right others are watching.
8. Use our time wisely.
Wow! What a packed few verses-have a good one-PASTOR JOE

DO THE RIGHT THING

Philemon 1:21-22 (ESV)
Confident of your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I say. [22] At the same time, prepare a guest room for me, for I am hoping that through your prayers I will be graciously given to you.

PAUL knew in his heart that the right thing would be done.
Can we be counted on to do the right thing?
Are we friendly or self-centered?
Paul was going to count on staying with his precious friend.
Do we spend time in prayer for others?
Put me on your prayer list that I will do God's will=PASTOR JOE

CHURCHES HAVE HUMANS

Titus 3:9-11 (ESV)
But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. [10] As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him, [11] knowing that such a person is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.

Christians are still humans.
They fight wars within like others do.
The make mistakes.
They need help and love.
They need advice.
Yes, we do. PASTOR JOE

Preach the Bible

2 Tim. 4:1-4 (ESV)
I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: [2] preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. [3] For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, [4] and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

We love to be entertained.
We don't want to be told we are wrong.
We go to a church we like with aLL kind of fun things.
Church is about hearing and living the Bible.
The message is what is important.
All else is like the icing.

IN THE LAST DAYS

1 Tim. 4:1-6 (KJV)
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; [2] Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; [3] Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. [4] For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: [5] For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. [6] If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE REPORT IN THE MORNING PAPER.
IT IS MY DUTY TO UPDATE YOU AND LET YOU KNOW-THE DEVIL IS AT WORK, AND MANY ARE LISTENING TO HIM.
THE BIBLE IS RIGHT AND TRUE.
PEOPLE NOT RIGHT WITH THE LORD ARE NOT RIGHT.
PLEASE TAKE MORE TIME TO READ THE BIBLE-PASTOR JOE

WORSHIPPED AT SALUDA HILL YESTERDAY-WAS BLESSED.
IN 2 WEEKS I AM TO GO BACK TO CHEOHEE-LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT.
PRAY FOR LOUISE AND I THAT WE WILL DO GOD'S WILL.

AVOID TROUBLEMAKERS

2 Thes. 3:6-7 (KJV)
Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. [7] For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;

Some people are not led by the Bible and the Holy Spirit.
They are troublemakers.
We are commanded to avoid them.
Are we a team player?
If not repent and get right-PASTOR JOE

Live Right

1 Thes. 4:1-4 (KJV)
Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. [2] For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. [3] For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: [4] That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

This world trys to get us to not live right.
Wht? It is led by feelings and pleasure.
God tells us how to be a much better person.
Read the Bible.
Live as it says.
Enjoy life at its best-PASTOR JOE

Pray for Me

Col. 4:2-4 (ESV)
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. [3] At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— [4] that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.

The great Paul needed prayer.
We need prayer, too.
Paul loved to preach.
He loved to be understood.
I admire him so.
Do people admire us?
Do we love to share about Jesus?

Loved and United

Philip. 4:1-4 (KJV)
Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved. [2] I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord. [3] And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life. [4] Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

This is one of my favorite books in the Bible.
Paul wanted them to realize:
1. They are loved.
2. they needed to stand up for God.
3. they needed to help each other.
4. they needed to rejoice. Try it you may like it.

What a precious book.
What great advice-PASTOR JOE

Please Be Patient with Me

Ephes. 4:1-6 (KJV)
I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, [2] With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; [3] Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. [4] There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; [5] One Lord, one faith, one baptism, [6] One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

I hear the heart cry of Paul as he shares with the Ephesians.
He was in jail for preaching.
He wanted them to live right.
He wanted them to be patient with each other.
He wanted them to be as one by the power of the Spirit.
He wanted the to share hope as only saved people can.
That is also my prayer for you-PASTOR JOE

Yesterday I preached at Choehee near Salem,SC
What loving precious people.
I had such freedom, and enjoy being with them so much.
They have been 3 years without a pastor-Wow!

One Day Things will be Different

Galatians 4:1-5 (ESV)
I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no different from a slave, though he is the owner of everything, [2] but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by his father. [3] In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world. [4] But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, [5] to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

For the christian, one day soon things will be different.
Heaven awaits.
Blessings await-glory.
Are you ready for heaven?
Is Jesus your savior?
What a future for the saved. PASTOR JOE

We Answer to God

2 Cor. 4:1-2 (ESV)
Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart. [2] But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God.

Paul was such a wonderful example to us all.
He knew what wanted him to do, and he did it.
He was a preacher of the Bible.
He answered only to God.
He was not a religious man who feared man.
His goal was to get the gospel out.
He was not a people pleaser.
How do we get the gospel out? PASTOR JOE

The Norm

1 Cor. 4:1-3 (ESV)
This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. [2] Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy. [3] But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself.

God expects us to live right.
To honor Him in all should be our goal.
Our greatest joy should be to please Him.
Do we serve Him?
Do we honor Him?
Is He pleased with us?
Only pleasing Him should be our concern-PASTOR JOE

Living Right

Romans 4:1-3 (ESV)
What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh? [2] For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. [3] For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness."

Christians are to live right.
They do it because it is right and honors God.
They don't do it to get saved, or Jesus would have never died on the cross.

it was good to see many of my friends at James Gillespie's funeral.
It was so good to meet Chad who took my place at Refuge.
The Gillespie family are a bunch of very nice people.
I love them dearly,God bless them all. PASTOR JOE

God Uses Bad for Good

MONTANA MIST-JUST FINISH PAINTING IT.
Acts 4:1-4 (ESV)
And as they were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them, [2] greatly annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. [3] And they arrested them and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening. [4] But many of those who had heard the word believed, and the number of the men came to about five thousand.

God took a bad thing and turned it into a wonderful good.
He can do that even in our lives.
Trust Him.
Look for it.
Note too-the Christian way isn't always popular,
but God likes it-PASTOR JOE

IT IS NOT ABOUT NUMBERS

John 4:1-4 (ESV)
Now when Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John
[2] (although Jesus himself did not baptize, but only his disciples), [3] he left Judea and departed again for Galilee. [4] And he had to pass through Samaria.

WE STRESS NUMBERS.
WE ARE JUDGED BY THE NUMBERS.
JESUS VALUES THE QUALITY.
IF YOU KEEP READING IN THIS CHAPTER, IT ABOUT THE VALUE OF ONE.
GOD LOVES US.
GOD DESIRES TO USE US FOR HIS GLORY.
WE MATTER TO GOD-WE DO.
ENJOY HIM-PASTOR JOE

THE DEVIL IS REAL

THIS IS CHEZNEY VICTORIA'S HORSE
Luke 4:1-4 (ESV)
And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness
[2] for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry. [3] The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread." [4] And Jesus answered him, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone.' "

IF JESUS HAD TROUBLE WITH THE DEVIL, WE WILL TOO.
SATAN HATES US.
HE WANTS TO HURT US.
HE DESIRES THAT WE GO TO HELL WITH HIM.
NOTE JESUS USED THE BIBLE TO TURN BACK SATAN.
HOW WELL DO WE USE OUR BIBLE? PASTOR JOE

ANOTHER ONE OF MY BROTHER-IN-LAWS DAVID PORTER SCARED US ALL YESTERDAY.
HE IS NOW IN SAINT FRANCIS HOSPITAL WITH A BLOOD CLOT IN HIS LUNG.
HE WILL BE THERE FOR A WEEK MORE THAN LIKELY.
PRAY FOR HIM AND MOT.
AT FIRST THEY THOUGHT HE HAD A HEART ATTACK.
HE IS SUCH A NICE GUY-DO PRAY FOR HIM...

LISTEN CLOSELY TO JESUS

Mark 4:1-4 (ESV)
Again he began to teach beside the sea. And a very large crowd gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat in it on the sea, and the whole crowd was beside the sea on the land. [2] And he was teaching them many things in parables, and in his teaching he said to them: [3] "Listen! A sower went out to sow. [4] And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.

LISTEN TO JESUS.
GREAT ADVICE IT IS.
IN A WORLD WHERE MANY VOICES SPEAK TO US-LISTEN TO JESUS.
STUDY WHAT HE SAYS.
1. HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT.
2. HE WANTS US TO THINK.
3. WHAT HE SAYS HAS ETERNAL VALUE-WOW!!!
LISTEN TO JESUS-OFTEN.
PASTOR JOE

TROUBLES COME

Matthew 4:1-4 (ESV)
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. [2] And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. [3] And the tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread." [4] But he answered, "It is written,
" 'Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.' "

YES, EVEN JESUS HAD TROUBLES.
HE HAD TEMPTATIONS.
HOW DID HE DEAL WITH THEM?
HE KNEW WHERE THEY COME FROM-SATAN.
HE EXPECTED THEM.
HE USED THE BIBLE TO CAST OFF SATAN.
I BET THE BIBLE WOULD HELP US IF WE USED IT MORE.
TRY IT-PASTOR JOE

SOME GREAT PROMISES FOR THE SAVED

Malachi 4:1-3 (ESV)
"For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. [2] But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall. [3] And you shall tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day when I act, says the Lord of hosts.

WHAT PROMISES FROM GOD IF WE ARE SAVED.
NO DOUBT SOON THESE WILL COME TO PASS-ARE WE READY?
WE CAN BE JESUS LOVES US AND DIED TO PAY A SIN DEBT WE NEVER COULD PAY.
ALL WE ASK IS THAT WE BELIEVE ON HIM AND ASK HIM TO BE OUR SAVIOR.
DO IT NOW-BE READY PASTOR JOE
