Psalm 120

1In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.

2Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

3What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?

4Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.

5Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!

6My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace.

7I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.

Verse 1 blesses me so much. Life may not be fair or fun sometimes, but God cares, loves, helps and hears.

Matthew 10: 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Jesus is to be number 1. Is He? Be warned one day we will wish He had been.
If Jesus isn't first-Satan is thrilled, for we either are lost or a hypocrite.
Think about it.
Are we sad joke or a loving saint?

Today a precious church member will have her leg and knee fixed after years with bad problems after an auto accident-please pray for her. God still answers prayer.
Did have a physical yesterday, and I am heavy. One cure is to get a foot taller. Blood tests results maybe by Friday. My hearing tested better than 7 years age-wow! Lungs,chest ok-ekg ok, but they didn't do a brain scan-no sense wasting time.
Remember Ena who is moving to Hospice today. Monk is doing well, as is Barbara.

⁴If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

⁵Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

I LOVE BEING A CHRISTIAN. THE BIBLE IS SO HELPFUL, AND HAS PROVEN TO BE SO TRUE.

WHAT IS VERY IMPORTANT IN THIS WORLD? TO HAVE THE RIGHT ATTITUDE TOWARD GOD IS IT.

JUST WHAT IS OUR ATTITUDE TOWARD HIM?

OUR ANSWER REFLECTS OUR ETERNAL DESTINY-THINK ABOUT IT-PASTOR JOE

“I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.”- Psalm 40:8

What do we want to do?
We need goals.
We need to identify our desires.
This is very important.
Second- is the Bible really important to us?
It should be.
Is it?
Start reading at least a chapter per day.

PSALM 23: 1A THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD....
GOD IS LORD.
HE IS THE ONE IN CHARGE.
HE IS THE MAN.
YET, HE LOVES US SO THAT HE ALLOWS US TO CHOOSE TO LOVE HIM OR NOT.
IF WE CHOOSE TO LOVE HIM THINGS WILL HAPPEN AND HEAVEN IS OUR FINAL HOME.
BUT IF WE CHOOSE NOT TO LOVE HIM THINGS WILL HAPPEN AS A RESULT.
IS HE YOUR LORD?

Proverbs 1: ³⁰They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

³¹Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

³²For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

³³But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

We can ignore God, but that comes with a price. God in His great love for us offers us advice and correction. Sadly, we can ignore Him, but the price is high. God will let us reap what we sow. I need mercy. Part of our problem is that we don't use our brain hardly at all.

God invites us to listen to Him, and enjoy quiet from fear of evil-wow!

Time flies by.
People we love and care for go and come.
Who do we tell-thanks for being a person who cares for me?
It would be a much better world, if we would start appreciating our friends.
So today-thank a friend,or 2,or more.

Monk had a very serious neck operation, and did well. Barbara is still doing well-she may go to rehab today or tomorrow. Ena is in the hospital with heart rhythm problems.
Bible verse study for today-
Jesus was a teacher,preacher, and a healer. We love the healing part, but first he was and is a teacher of truth and of the things God wants us to know. Jesus preached-people heard him and understood him. He was not an entertainer, but one who clearly revealed what God wanted him to say.
The good news is that even today Jesus is still doing all 3. Be bless enjoy Jesus.

So often in the tough times we turn to Jesus for healing. He is the healer-the only one.
But then as times pass we forget Jesus, until we need another healing.
What an insult.
Jesus desires to be so much more to us.
Healer-yes.
Savior-yes.
Friend.
Helper in all of life.

What a wonderful weekend. Jasmine Lee blessed us so much with her singing last night. Barbara Traynum is doing so well. Monk Lyda is headed to Atlanla tomorrow to get ready for his neck operation-many are praying that it goes well. The duet Sunday am was so good as always. We had good food,good worship with good friends-how do you beat that. God is so good.
Today I take my brother for his eye checkup-hope that goes well,too. Later Louise and I will go to see Barbara.

My precious friend and church member Barbara is to have exploratory operation this morning at 11. She has stroke like reactions on her left side after she started bleeding in her brain. Please pray for her and Martin and the family and friends. Also pray for Monk as he is facing an operation next Wed.for a neck problem.

John 3:16 teaches us that God loves everyone-you and me-wow!
God gave His Son because He loves us.
Do we have a giving love?
Are we selfish?
God offers us eternal life through faith in His Son-what a deal.
What do we offer others?
Think about it-PASTOR JOE

God is a doer. Are we? God is busy doing the right thing. Are we?
Too often we get side tracked and find ourselves doing the wrong thing.
We strugglle with right and wrong. God doesn't.
Are we looking for the right thing?
Do even desire to do the right thing?
Think deeply about what I have said, and be a doer,too.

It blows my mind to think this site has been hit over 12,000 times. Thank God. On Wed. nights we are studying Matthew-we are in chapter 9.
let's show how we study a verse to gain insight- Matthew 8: 19. And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
20. And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
We worry so about where we are from, and where we live, but there is something so much more important- what are we?
We often put limits on how we follow Jesus.
Jesus wants us to follow Him no matter where, no matter when.

Isaiah 12 is a wonderful chapter to study for it teaches us what God gives us.
Isaiah 12:1. And in that day thou shalt say, O Lord, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.
2. Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
3. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
4. And in that day shall ye say, Praise the Lord, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.
5. Sing unto the Lord; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.
6. Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.
God gives us reasons to praise Him.
See how many you can find.

I am blessed to be part of a very loving church. I also have many loving friends-thank God. It brings me to the question-who do we love?
Do we want to love?
What is stopping us?
Why don't we love others?
Who is smiling because of us-God or Satan?
